General
What is Legal1Up?
Legal1Up is an AI-enhanced litigation support company for lean litigation teams, nonprofits, and pro bono programs. We support counsel with document review, discovery, deposition preparation, motion drafting, and Rule 1006 summaries. On a retainer we also build applications and give technology advice. We provide analysis and drafts based on the record. Your attorney reviews, certifies and signs. We don't give legal advice.
How does Legal1Up use AI?
Every assignment follows four steps: intake, system draft, human review, and lawyer decision. Our system uses AI for volume tasks like first-pass document review, pattern detection, draft generation, and citation lookup. Our team checks the work against the source materials before delivery. We agree on the deliverables and checks during scoping. Counsel reviews the work and makes the legal decisions.
Who are Legal1Up's services designed for?
Lean litigation teams, solo practitioners, nonprofits, and pro bono programs handling document-heavy matters. Our Rule 1006 summary work serves counsel on either side of a case.
What types of cases do you support?
We support matters in federal, state, and local courts and administrative proceedings. Examples include employment, whistleblower and retaliation, civil rights, contract, consumer protection, and appellate matters. Administrative examples include MSPB and Department of Labor cases. We agree on the task and applicable requirements during scoping.
What makes Legal1Up different from other legal support services?
AI handles the volume and people check the work. Our citation and record checks identify the sources used and any references we could not verify. You get one point of contact and a customer portal to track the work.

Plans & Pricing
How does Legal1Up's pricing work?
We quote each project after a short scoping call, or set a monthly retainer for ongoing work. You know the price before we start. Nonprofit and pro bono rates are available. Beacon Intake, our intake system, is $120 a month with 3 users and $40 a month for each additional user.
Is there a minimum engagement size?
There is no minimum monthly spend for a single project. Describe the task, record volume, and deadline so we can confirm the scope and quote. A free trial starts with a call to agree on a task.
Do you offer nonprofit or ongoing-work rates?
Yes. Nonprofit and pro bono rates are available, and retainers cover ongoing work. We discuss rates on the scoping call.
Are there any hidden fees?
You receive a quote before work starts. It identifies the included work and any agreed charges. If the scope changes, we agree on the change before doing additional work.
Services
What services does Legal1Up offer?
We offer discovery management, document review, deposition preparation, motion drafting, Rule 1006 summaries, citation verification, joint appendix preparation, trial preparation, and more.
Can you handle large document productions?
We scope production work around the document types, volume, receiving format, and deadline. We confirm the work and delivery date before accepting the assignment.
Do you draft motions?
We prepare draft motions, oppositions, replies, and supporting documents from the record. Every draft is work product for your attorney, who reviews, certifies and signs it. We never file documents on your behalf, and we don't give legal advice.
Can I review and edit discovery documents before submission?
Yes. We prepare analysis and drafts based on the record and data. Your attorney reviews, edits, certifies and signs everything before it is served or filed.
Can you help with deposition preparation?
Yes. We prepare exhibit-linked outlines, question guides, and indexed exhibit sets. Tell us the witness, topics, available record, and deadline. We discuss any debrief or deposition-day support separately during scoping.
What about citation verification?
We compare citations, quotations, and record references in the agreed draft with available sources. The register identifies what we checked, discrepancies, and sources we could not access. Confirm the required checking scope with us, including whether you need formatting or subsequent-history checks. Counsel decides what to change.
Do you handle trial preparation?
Yes. We scope work such as witness and exhibit lists, deposition designations, and trial binders for counsel’s review. Tell us about the trial schedule, available record, and requested outputs.
How do you ensure quality?
We agree on the deliverables and source checks for the assignment. Our team reviews litigation-support work before delivery and flags questions for counsel. Your attorney reviews the work and decides what is served or filed.
